Heaven

John 13:36-14:1-6

“Let not your hearts be troubled.”

1. Heaven is a place, v. 2.

Jesus says in verse 2, “I GO” that speaks of a place.

“My Father’s House” is Heaven. It is home for God’s children.

“Mansions” is the Greek word “mone”--abode, rooms, abiding places.

2. Heaven is the place where God dwells.

a. The Lord’s throne is in Heaven, Psalm 103:19; Isaiah 66:1.

b. Angels are sent with their messages from Heaven, Daniel 4:13; Luke 1:26.

c. Jesus sits at the Father’s right hand, Romans 8:34.

3. Heaven--what is it like?

A place of music (Revelation 5:9)

A place of praise (Revelation 7:9-12)

A place of service (Revelation 7:13-15)

A place of comfort (Revelation 7:16-17)

A place of rest (Revelation 14:13)

A place of rejoicing (Revelation 19:17)

A place of beauty (Revelation 21:10, 23)

A place to lay up treasure (Matthew 6:19-20)

A place where there will be no death, sorrow, crying, pain, night, sin, sickness, Satan, thirst, hunger, excessive heat.

4. Heaven is a promised place, v. 3.

Jesus says in verse 3, “I will.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

5. Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people, vv. 4-6.

Philippians 1:21-23; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:4-6

No way but by Jesus!
